About

Our Lead Clinician is Dr Jennifer Hayward, the Wāhi Mārie Service Manager is Kim Lund, CNS, and our Lead Nurse is Katherine Haftka, RN. We serve the Hutt Valley, Porirua, Kāpiti Coast and Wellington City.

If you have been sexually assaulted in the last 7 days (services provided 24/7)

We can provide a full forensic exam (DNA collection) up to 7 days after a sexual assault.

  • If police are involved, they will organise the forensic examination with our team. All evidence collected is given to police after the exam.

  • A police report is not needed to have a forensic exam – we have a “Just in Case” (JIC) exam. This is a forensic exam that is done when a person is uncertain if they wish to report the assault to police. In a JIC exam, the evidence is stored for 6 months giving them the time to consider reporting to police. In 6 months, the evidence is destroyed if they have decided not to go forward with a police complaint. In this instance, police are not given any details of the case without their consent. After hours, contact your local Support Agency for an urgent referral. During usual business hours contact our daytime team on 04 805 0522.

Alternatively, we can provide you with a non forensic (Well check) exam if there is no need for DNA evidence to be collected. In this case we can make an appointment with our daytime team and they can see a specialist health care provider (see below).

Non forensic (Therapeutic/Well checks) visits – Services provided Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm

Therapeutic exams visits can be done at any time in your life after sexual assault/abuse. We can provide a safe space:

  • to discuss health concerns related to sexual assault/abuse

  • to answer any questions you might have regarding STI’s.

  • for a medical exam if you wish to have one.

You are welcome to bring a support person to your visit. Our services include:
