A two full day update on Adult, Adolescent and Paediatric sexual assault

This is an advanced training course for clinicians (doctors and nurses) who have attended previous MEDSAC medical training courses (or equivalent) and who are currently seeing referred patients for alleged sexual assault/abuse. It is run in a conference style and provides opportunity for discussion of case issues presented by attendees.


Exciting news - two international speakers are coming to Update 2018

Dr Catherine White

Dr Catherine White is Clinical Director at the St Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Manchester, England. She has been Clinical Director since 2003 and a Forensic Physician since 1995. During her career, Dr White has constantly sought to drive up standards in the quality of care for rape and sexual assault victims and has been instrumental in delivering comprehensive training and teaching of practitioners working in this field. Dr White has written extensively on the subject of sexual assault examinations, providing doctors and health practitioners with essential practical information on sexual assault examinations. Since working in this field, she was appointed to the Academic Committee for Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine and has served as Vice President, Forensic Medicine for the organisation. Dr White has provided training and lecturing both nationally and Internationally and was sponsored by UNICEF and CEOP (Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre) to provide training in Cambodia and Moldova in 2006, 2008 and 2010. She is also guest lecturer to the judges on the Judicial Studies Board, Serious Sexual Offences seminars and the Public Law Continuation Courses. Since 2012 she has been working with the UN to develop Sexual Assault Services in Palestine. Dr White was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in The Queen’s 2014 New Year’s Honours List.

Dr Lori Frasier

Dr Lori Frasier is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Pennsylvania State University at Hershey Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. She is the director of the Center for the Protection of Children at Penn State Hershey. She trained in Utah and Washington, and was on the Faculties of the University of Iowa, University of Missouri-Columbia and University of Utah Colleges of Medicine. Dr Frasier was one of the first board certified child abuse pediatricians in the USA, and just completed her final year as immediate past chair the sub board for Child Abuse Pediatrics of the American Board of Pediatrics. She has published widely on the topics of child and adolescent sexual abuse. Dr Frasier has an interest in Telehealth in child abuse, sexual abuse physical findings and has lectured internationally on the topic of child and adolescent sexual abuse.
